The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, a dynamic 100,000 sq. ft. visual and performing arts complex in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is seeking a full-time Public Programs Assistant. Responsibilities include assisting in the administration, logistics, execution, and evaluation of public programming including Performing Arts, Community Arts, and Education. This involves coordinating many of the logistics for Public Programs including but not limited to scheduling educational group tours, docents, and informances; assisting the Marketing Department in promoting activities by providing necessary information about events; overseeing hospitality and arrangements for artists-in-residence, and developing Tessitura (database) functions for Public Programs and training others to use them. Additionally, the Public Programs Assistant is responsible for the overall box office for the Performing Arts.
A Bachelor of Arts degree is required, preferably in performing arts or related, with a minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative capacity (ideally in a non-profit arts organization). The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and people skills; be comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and have the ability to coordinate logistics surrounding multiple productions, performances, and events per year. A general understanding of the administrative and technical aspects of producing and presenting performing arts events is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as proficiency with computer and spreadsheet applications are essential. The work schedule includes days and some evening and weekend hours.
